Disclaimer: Program details, funding availability, and eligibility criteria are subject to change. Always consult the official council website for the most current information before making any purchases or installations

Council Area and Suburbs: The City of Armadale covers the suburbs and localities of Armadale, Ashendon, Bedfordale, Brookdale, Camillo, Champion Lakes, Forrestdale, Harrisdale, Haynes, Hilbert, Karragullen, Kelmscott, Lesley, Mount Nasura, Mount Richon, Piara Waters, Roleystone, Seville Grove, and Wungong.38

Program Status: Important Note: The City of Armadale’s Security Incentive Scheme webpage indicated that funding for the 2024/2025 round has been exhausted, and the scheme is currently closed.1 The details below are based on the 2023/2024 application form 2 and previous scheme information.1 Prospective applicants should monitor the City of Armadale website for announcements regarding future funding rounds.

Eligibility (Based on 2023/24 Form):

  • Applicants must be residents within the City of Armadale, or the property owner, an agent authorised to act on their behalf, or a tenant with written consent from the owner/agent.2
  • A specific stream exists for Seniors, Victims of Crime, or Family Domestic Violence Victims, requiring a Police Incident Report number or a referral from a service provider.2
  • Invoices/receipts for the purchased items must be dated within 18 months of the application date.2
  • Residents may only apply for a rebate once every five years per residence.1 This limitation suggests a policy aimed at distributing funds broadly across the community over time, rather than supporting frequent upgrades for the same properties.

Covered Items (Based on 2023/24 Form):

The scheme covered a range of home safety and security devices, including:

  • Security sensor lights
  • Keyed window locks (per lock)
  • Security window screens (per window)
  • Roller shutters
  • Security screen doors
  • CCTV / security cameras (DIY installation option available with photo proof)
  • Video doorbells
  • Meter Box Security
  • CCTV / security cameras / alarm systems (Professionally installed)
  • Door deadlocks (per lock).1
  • Improvements, repairs, or additions to existing eligible devices may also qualify.2

Installation Requirements (Based on 2023/24 Form):

  • For professionally installed security sensor lights, keyed window locks, security window screens, roller shutters, and security screen doors, the work must be done by a registered business holding a Security Agents License (or a registered electrician for sensor lights).2
  • For CCTV (DIY), video doorbells, meter box security, CCTV (professional install), and door deadlocks, installation could be carried out by the applicant, owner, or a registered business. DIY installations required photographic proof.2

Rebate Amount (Based on 2023/24 Form):

  • The maximum total rebate was capped at $200 per residence.2
  • Applicants holding a valid Pensioner Concession Card, Health Care Card, or WA Seniors Card were entitled to a higher maximum rebate of $250 per residence.1 The separate consideration for vulnerable groups indicates a targeted approach to support those potentially at higher risk or with fewer resources.
  • Specific rebate amounts were allocated per item type, with differing amounts for general applicants versus concession/senior card holders (e.g., Security sensor light: $80 / $90; Professional CCTV install: $200 / $250; DIY CCTV install: $100 / $150).2

Application Steps (Based on 2023/24 Form):

  1. Purchase and install the eligible security item(s).
  2. Complete the Security Incentive Scheme application form.
  3. Submit the completed form along with required documentation (see below) to the City of Armadale via email, mail, or in person.2

  • A copy of the invoice and/or receipt showing full payment for the item(s) and/or installation, dated within 18 months of the application.2
  • Proof of residency within the City of Armadale (e.g., utility bill, rates notice).2
